During the month of December, the construction continued at the job site. The construction is now going vertical and the building is getting closer to finalizing the steel structure as the month closes.
The Site:
The site crews replaced the permanent roadway that leads people into the site. They also connected the storm lines and inlets from the Poppleton Street alley. Additionally, the permanent gas service and power service instillation began in December.
The Building: Steel Structure
The steel erection continues in the main structure south of the site of the future cyclotron and the southwest staircase began. The placement of composite decks began on portions of the deck on levels 2 and 3 which has given the building the start of its vertical height.
The Building: Concrete Structure
In December, concrete crews placed the remainder of slab on grade. In the site of the future cyclotron, the team continued building out the interior labyrinth walls and exterior walls that form the BTS tunnel for concrete placement. The wall at the South end of the future cyclotron at the third floor level was placed allowing for the steel structure to tie into it at the south end of the building.
At the future site of the gantries, the team placed the elevated deck along the labyrinths from Gantry 2 through 4. Then, formwork, rebar and conduit work started at the gantry dividing walls as well as for labyrinth walls for gantries 1 through 3. Crews also begin forming up the exterior walls along the beam transport system line through the future fixed beam room.
At the fixed beam room, concrete was placed at the exterior north ring wall and the walls that form up the pit. Finally, the fixed beam slab on grade was placed.
